Private Development

GE will be moving to a private development for a few months after the next update.

The reason for this is I have to do some major internal coding changes and build the universe. The current server online already provides full trading of equipment and commodities. It also already has manufacturing active for both Earth and Ceti Alpha III (Spawn planet). I have a huge number of changes that need to be done without anyone logging into the server, these will require starting and stopping the server quite often. I will move the new server to another port so it won't interfere with the current one that is online (so glad I don't use directplay). Unlike FL I can run as many servers as my computer can handle.

Anyways, after the final update within the next few days here is what I am hoping to complete before releasing it again...

* Full NPC support
* Missions
* Shoutbox in the bar
* Story-line missions where one has to completed before getting another one
* Global server (something Alpha Astrix is waiting on)
* Complete equipment support, currently only guns, torps and engines supported
* Ship dealer
* Real estate dealer (to buy bases and parts of colonized planets)
* Partial replacement of DirectX's fixed function pipeline with shaders
* Tech tree building
* Fleshing out multi-ship ownership, it's been part of the code from the beginning but without a ship dealer you can't own more than the original starter ship
* Alot more that is still on the to-do list, your ideas are welcome

Anyways, still looking for a help file tool, any suggestion?

WoW, it's really great to see that GE is coming along so nicely. Can't wait to work on it when we get the chance. Very Happy

Opps, I did misspell it Smile

@ Griffin - actually that is why I need something that makes it very easy to build help files. I would prefer HTML because it supports hyperlinking. I had started on a basic version of a tool for building them but my time is quite limited. The game already has loads of script commands, I just need some way of documenting them.
