Thought that would get your attention
Anyways, what the title means is that within a couple of months the game will be entering the alpha stage of development. Hard to believe this version of the game started April 10th, 2008, look at how far it has progressed.
Over the next few months I will have the final parts of the base code completed, which means it's time to start building the content for it. This means additional systems, rooms, props, descriptions etc. I am looking for someone to start helping to build these parts so I can concentrate on getting the code up to full speed.
This project will be developed until completion and will surpass anything you have been able to do with Freelancer. It already supports 512 x 512 x 512 systems, 3D rooms and surface travel (aka FPS style gaming). Many things are still planned for addition into the game but most of the basic stuff is already working.
I am also looking for someone versed in writing shader code and someone who has worked with AI algorithms. This is one of the few things I have very little knowledge of.
Currently I am coming up on my 30th anniversary of programming so I am NOT a newbie at this. I have written tons of programs over the years but I can't do everything by myself. So if you are willing to stick with for the long haul, drop me a PM and let me know.

Sorry for being away, I had trouble finding and remembering what site I was a part of, luckily i remembered digitalbrilliance. It is good to see that you have progressed, what else is going on and what is on to do list?
Unfortunately the computer I used to make the intro broke down and I lost all my work. I dont know if I have time to redo everything. It took my months to render it out.
I have spent the last months trying to get this new computer which is still not fully fixed.

You can set the system starsphere in the system ini's, look at spawn for an example.
I will be uploading a mandatory update in the next couple of days. One of the main packets has changed format and your client is not able to process it.
This next update was required because I needed to add in the ability to show the players and NPCs on the client's computer. In the process of adding it in the version that is online now I forgot to include a unique identifier. The server running from this point on provides that but the client available does not know it's there, as in the packet is being read wrong. Since this packet is not used in the current version you should be safe.
Anyways, I have finally settled on a name for the Humans, I am calling them the Commonwealth. If you wish to suggest other names, feel free to do so. It needs to be set in stone very soon since I am about to start adding the Human systems into the game. Spawn is simply the starter system for new players.

You know I live in one of the few Commonwealths still around today.
Might want it to be Commonwealth of ______ Maybe Commonwealth of Sol? The Commonwealth of the Terrans? Erde's Commonwealth (A little German in there). Just trying to add a little color to it. I was actually thinking it sounded too much like Gene Roddenberry's work but his was "Systems Commonwealth" Which was still shorted to The Commonwealth.
To be honest I am really liking The Commonwealth of Erde now. (Note: Erde means Earth in German)

Actually I had considered that about Andromeda but Commonwealth has been used in alot of sci-fi books as well. Erde, since Im not German that wouldn't make sense to call it a German name... I do like Commonwealth of Earth though.
